Mana is required to cast spells or activate abilities. Normally, this mana pool is generated by tapping a basic land card. However, other cards also increase mana in various ways. Every card in Magic has a mana cost associated with it, except for some artifacts that cost 0 and can be downloaded for free. There are 5 symbols to identify the main colors: sun for white, skull for black, flame for red, water drop for blue and tree for green. In addition to these symbols, the cards also have a number, which represents an amount of mana that can be paid with mana of any color. The same logic applies to skills that need mana to activate. Some cards can switch mana colors or allow mana of one color to be transformed into another. It is important to note that even skills with a cost of 0 are considered activated.
